Thanks SV, I'm not a collector or ever been one. But it would be cool to gauge what I have. 2 summers a go some dude in Green Bay was selling an 80s ash with EMG P pup and asking $500 for it, but I'd just gotten my '99 so I didn't inquire about it. I did also see it on eBay a few weeks later. I thought it was an MIA but not sure now.

IMO usually any MIA Fender P bass that isn't all hacked up and plays good and is in generally good condition is a decent buy for $500. ( disclaimers go here)--------I bought a 76 P bass for $500 about 7 years ago though, that needed tuners and pickups. I really liked the creme color finish because it had yellowed and it had a maple neck. I didn't mind paying 500 because I hadn't seen one like it untill then. To be truthfull I have paid too much for Fender basses more than once. If I really like a bass and want it bad, I sometimes just go for it and fork over the dough.

I did the same thing...goes back to going about I am not a collector, if I like it, I'll buy it. When I'm done/bored with it, I'll sell it. The only 3 electric basses I have left are modded to my 'want' so I'll keep them for me for awhile.

Yeh- I'm not a "real" collector either. The only basses I can say that I'll hold on to untill I kick the bucket across the junkyard would be my 74 P, my 72 Jazz and my 83 P.--- Oh yeh-- my 02 Strat because it was the first Strat I ever owned. Bought it new. Took a long time for me to finally get one.
