i have been playing bass for three years now and have gotten pretty good at it. i am playing an laguna ocean bass now but am interested in upgrading into a more higher quality more profesional bass guitar. i really like the fender sound and am leaning towards them more than anything else. my biggest concern is versitilaty. i play lots of music from classic rock. namely the who. to rush. and then 90s rock, namely the chili peppers. my pricerange would be not too much over $1000.

any suggestions?

The Laguna Ocean is a heck of a bass. Shame they stopped making that model. Real pity. I looked at them when they were out and they were an awful lot of instrument for the money.

Versatility? Precision Bass Deluxe. MIM, under a grand. Great bass for the money. Also try the JAGUAR Bass. It has more switches and knobs than any 2 pickup bass around and is in your budget range too.

Seems like a cockpit of a spaceship to me. :P But it's a chameleon really in terms of sound and tonal range.

You are totally right LOL, but I think it has a lot of options to change the sound, also it is a good looking bass, I was planning tu buy it until I found the Pbass I have now.
There are some tutorial videos on the tube you can check out.
