Hi fhopkins

Still not sure are you.
OK I'll climb up into my loft tomorrow and take a photo of them (Two of them).
The 12 stringer will have to wait.
My brother has that and it's too much trouble to go all the way to where he lives to get a photo.
I hope you will finally throw in the towel and put your sniping rifle away.

You might even want my autograph when I've finally convinced you

Incidentally, George Harrison used the blonde amp once in Hamilton Hall to tune his guitar up when we were both on the same bill.
He asked me if he could plug into mine because his was still on their van.
Of course I can't prove that. If I could it would be worth a fortune.
I liked George he was very quiet unassuming guy.

Hi BC

I mustn't have explained properly.
There was only one overweight girl, the rest were quite shapely and wearing mini skirts.
The main lights got turned on at the end of each gig while the groups changed over and I had a look to see if I could work out who had grabbed me.
I might have given them a lift home. I didn't recognize anyone.

As for sharing equipment only once did we share equipment.
It happened sometime in the future from were we are at the moment in this story. I will mention it later in sequence.
The Beatles had just made the record "Love me do" which had gone into the charts.
We were the supporting group at a venue called The Floral Hall in Southport.
Which is about 15 miles from Liverpool.
Now by that time we had a PA (Public Address) system that beat every other group in Liverpool.
I had made the two speaker cabinets myself, based on the Vox Transistor Bass amps.
They had two 18 inch speakers in each cabinet and I used a Vox AC30 as the main amplifier. and boy was the sound rich and powerful.
Those valve amps had something extra over the later transistor amps.
I had also fitted tweeters into the cabinets we also had three Reslow Microphones.

The PA system supplied by the hall was not a patch on them.
John Lennon asked me if they could use our PA system instead of the halls, Obviously I said yes.
We all knew at that time that our old rivals were definitely going places.
Of course we could never have guessed, not in a million years, just HOW far they would go.

He's right, we all just love looking at pictures of guitars, basses, amps, pedals, jam sandwich's. Honestly Merseykid were fanatics for photo's.

We usually did our rehearsals on a Wednesday evening unless we had a booking that night, which was rare.
After the Odd Spot gig we met as usual on the next Wednesday at the bakery.
I had two songs on my tape recorder, which I had recorded from the BBC, “The Alan Freeman show”.
This was my favourite program for getting all the hit records, recording them, then
learning the words, and working out the chords.
Roy, the van driver had taken Jay’s amplifier with him and dropped it off at the bakery while Jay made his way on the bus.
We were lucky the way things had worked out, because Tony Aussie and Roy the driver all lived in the same area,
so it was easy for Roy to pick those three up and drop them and their equipment off at gigs or at the bakery, and he didn’t mind.
I had my own car so that wasn’t a problem. It was only Jay who was the odd man out and he could get the bus just carrying his guitar.
If the booking was out of town, which was becoming more frequent, Roy picked us all up.
We began the practice session by playing the songs I wanted to sing.
“When my little girl is smiling” by Jimmy Justice and “Hey Baby” the original Bruce Channel version.
Aussie would have a look at the chords I had worked out and accepted them or, if he disagreed with them he would suggest others. We would sort it between us.
There were no computers in those days to find the correct chords.
Either you worked them out yourself, or you bought the sheet music.
Expensive.
We had only got as far as listening to the tape recorder. Jay started to do a lead backing to the song.
Then he said, “ Have you heard this” and started to play a very complicated guitar melody. I think it was the backing to a Les Paul and Mary Ford song.
It sounded great but I wanted to learn some new songs for our show.
I waited until he finished then said “That was great Jay but lets on with the practice”.
I rewound the tape and started from the beginning again.
Aussie was accompanying the music with the chords we had worked out and Tony played the bass. Jay joined in with lead and the music came to a stop.
The tape continued playing.
Diplomatically, I said “Hang on Jay, we usually get the rhythm and the bass off first then work out the lead later”
“No that’s not the way it should be done” he said.
“It’s best if everybody works at it together including the drums. You’ll get things done a lot quicker”.
“ We’ve tried all ways practicing, and this is the best way to learn the numbers”. I said, “Even Vic did it this way” and I agreed with him.
“Well that’s not the way I’d do it” he said
I was getting a bit hot under the collar but I didn’t want to have to look for another lead guitarist again.
I let him have a go at his way hoping that he would realise that our way was the best after all.
He was, after all a fantastic guitarist. And he knew it.
The session finished up believe it or not with us all listening to Jay doing his party pieces again.
We never learned any new songs that night.

We carried on all the next week doing our gigs; until it was time to practice again but I was determined that next time I would put my foot down.
We would learn those songs before they dropped out of the charts.
The next Wednesday arrived and I was ready this time.

Could do with a good cleanup.

I'll have to keep my address secret.
If you will kill for them it doesn't make me feel very safe.
Just Kidding

The loft is very warm and dry, perfect for preserving items like those.
The last time I had them working was about three years ago.
The pots need cleaning because the amp crackles when you turn the knobs.

"The pots" anyone know what I'm talking about?
