I don't know why you can't post like us. Try to do a post without using photobucket. Just a test!

Hey Delta66!! I was born in and lived in your state for several years. I'm about 35 miles from Baton Rouge.

Man that's cool. Not many folks representing our area on this forum as far as I can tell. Two highly underappreciated and disrespected states I think. Some real good fishing you LA folks got down there in the bayou. And some good deer hunting up here in the wooded areas of MS. I'm actually from the Jackson area (not a good city to be in) but I go to school at Delta State. No shortage of great blues music, that's for sure. 8)

Anyway, merseykid, I hate that you're having problems posting. I can be patient tho.

I have tried several times.
Earlier on in this thread there wasn't a problem.
I could just copy and paste the word documents straight onto the thread, no matter how long.
Now, however, if I try to post too many words I get that message, mentioned (see 25th July @ 01.49)

I will keep trying

Notice the font is "Times new Roman" in the photobucket posts.
I think Fender use "Arial"

Hi John- Its good to see you posting again.

I think the posting problems you are having is related to some new filtering arrangements/software that the Fender Forum Administrators are using to control spam. It's may have to do with a combination of your file size and your internet service provider being targeted as some possible spam source.
I hope that they at Fender can work it out.

As far as jumping to the sad part of your story, it is your call. We are all along for the ride.

Bill

Hi Bill
What you said is almost exactly what the Web Manager said in his Email to me, after I had informed him of the difficulties I was having trying to post.

(see my post 23rd July @ 9.39)

The solution I have worked out is to convert the postings to JPEG and post the story as though it is a picture. It works.

By the way what did you think of the slightly "Raunchy" post and is that a recipe for success or failure.

I would like some feedback as I don't have the advantage of professional advice, which I would have to pay for, and there are a lot of scams in that field.

I notice that it got over 1000 hits in one day, so I suppose that is some hint.
If people didn't like it they wouldn't read it.

John

I would especially love some feedback from any (Genuine) female readers of this thread.
If there are any.

I read the " hook-up post" and I didn't really think it was raunchy at all. Girls are attracted to guys in bands . Thats the way it is.

Unfortunately for kids today, that little auburn haired beauty is likely to have already been with 50 guys and sporting five tattos and multiple piercings in unmentionable places.

If you are with a band today you had better pack protection before playing the field.

The world isn't as innnocent as it was in 1962 or therabouts.

A good follow up for you from that post would be was there any fall out with the rest of the band after you hooked up with " Freddy's Girl" or did they see that she was never into Freddy in the first place.

That stuff can get dicey in bands and many bands are broken up over women.

My only reservation in this discussion would be that you don't know the age of the people reading this but the site does prevent you from even typing the mildest curse word. Like A*S for instance. LOL

You're quite correct Bill.
Those were the days before the Pill was available to single women here.
If I had a time machine, I would go back to the 60s, and stay there.

In the 60s UK we never heard of gun, or knife crime.
If kids played football (socker) in the street and an old person told them to play somewhere else they would respectfully move on.
Drugs were something you saw on Hollywood movies, but never understood.
To Mug someone was Liverpool slang for buying them a drink.
To get laid was like winning the lottery. (unless you were in a band)
If there was a murder anywhere in the country it was headline news for weeks.
There were bouncers on the door of every factory, throwing people IN because there were so many jobs, they couldn't get workers.
Yes, although the vast majority of indigenous Brits enthusiastically support the USA.
Rock and roll wasn't the only thing we copied and imported.

I've kept up with this so far and i think that the format you used in photobucket would be a nice way to compile a book with a typing program and that looked very nice the way you layed that out i would as i said before suggest trying to contact a publisher usually if they like your idea enough they will help fund it as well as help you get along my mother published a couple of childrens books and that's how she got them out there but just sayin' hi again :D

J.T. I wondered if you could give us some answers to a couple of questions that I have and these answers might enlighten all of us to the band environment existing in Liverpool in the early 60's.

Was there a moment where you remember a lost opportunity that may have made you guys recording stars or were th Hi-Cats content with being a local group?

Did anyone offfer you a recording deal?

How did the record companies work with bands in the 60's in the UK?

Did other groups help you or hurt your chances for success?

I know these questions may be answered in your story?

Hi Bill

All your questions have a direct link to "My sad story".

If things had turned out differently I would probably be in the Mediterranean now, sitting in the bar of my yacht reminiscing about the good old times and playing Hi Cat records to my friends including Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and probably Barack Obama and my many girlfriends along for the ride.

I think I'll start the run up to the finale and put everyone out of their misery.

As I said previously that was by no means the end of the story.

Interesting ideas

I am not at all pleased with the start to this story.
Looking back at the first page, it is very amateurish and I don't think it would catch a readers attention, making them want to carry on reading.

If I was to attempt to interest a publisher I would have to take the story back in time a bit, and prepare the ground a bit better.

I know I'm being my own critic but I don't think I got the hang of it until about the fourth or fifth page, after all the 'sniping' had subsided, and most people realised I was genuine, and not a con artist.

Still, I've got the lot on Microsoft Word so I'll be able to tweak it here and there, until I am satisfied.

I would probably have to put more 'Groupy' stories in as well, to whet the appetite.

Then I need an expert's considered opinion.
One with no axe to grind.

I wonder if you are in the minority or does anyone else think the same way.
All the story (including the bits) or 'Cut to the quick' and go straight to the end?

I can't speak for everyone, but I would love to hear your story as you wnat to tell it! Take your time, cut to the quick, you're driving the bus and we're along for the ride.

I've loved every word so far and, personally, I'd hate to see it end before the wholre story was told.

Please, do carry on at your own pace. Amatuerish or not, there are many many people reading this thread and have them hooked, and for me, I find your writing style easy to follow and like good music, it comes from the heart and whether or not it is "polished" doesn't matter, at least to me.
