I think you meant Lonnie Donegan.

But I'm sure the rest of the story is 100% accurate.

Hi VGStrato47
What’s it got to do with the Fender P Bass? Well I was coming to that.
I own one, which I bought off the bass player Don Andrews of the Remo Four, a Liverpool recording Group in the 60s. That was part of the story I intended to tell.
But I agree with fhopkins.
The story is too long and I don’t want to bore anyone.
I only started to write it on impulse, so I will call it a day and leave the condensed version. I still have contact with famous artists from those fabulous days and see no reason why I should share my memories with an audience who may consider it boring. Or I should say SOME might consider it boring.
Thanks anyway
JT

Again the story nearly ended,
but read on. There's more

We're probably not missing anything. A guy who logs onto a forum and in his first post starts telling a story about all the famous people he knows is suspect enough...

but when he actually interrupts the story to say, "Now, everybody cuddle up and kiss my sharries and beg me to continue and maybe I will," than you know you're being had. No surprise that he huffs off when even one poster expresses some doubt or impatience.

Maybe he'll write his book... there's a seemingly insatiable market for that "I was there in Mersey and saw Paul at the chips shop" stuff.

Dude... don't let's start. Buying her book doesn't make her your "instructor."

Dude... you seem kinda pissy man, and I don't mean to be speaking for BroDave but he knew more about basses when he was in the womb than you will ever know. If you can ever be a fraction of as good as Dave at knolage and playing bass, you will be gifted my friend. And unless you're Steve Harris or Geddy Lee, Les Claypool ect. than you can't tell BrotherDave who his instrctor was or not. And if you were Geddy, Harris, or Claypool than everything I just said can just go out the windoe, but I thing Harris, CLaypool and Geddy have enough manners and respect to adknolage what he said and respect it. They arn't rude!!!

As for your other post... you ruined a good story for many people who wanted to read it. This guy won't tell the story cause of you. Who cares of it's real, people read good fiction stories all the time that are based off of true events and people. If he was lying it was a true story, if not that was a frickin awesome story, and now we won't know the end!!!!

And we owe it all th you... THX A-HOLE SKUM-BAG!!!! We owe you one!!

You Flop sounded like you helped this story end!!!

Tommy - if you go read Brother Dave's history on his website, you will see that Carol Kaye was not his instructor. He says that her book "How to Play the Electric Bass" was an eye-opener for him and greatly advanced his playing, but he has not taken lessons from her... at least, none that didn't come in the mail. The post above makes it sound as if he knows her personally, but his website clears this up.

I guess by this yardstick, I could call Larry Carlton my teacher.

And if you wanted to believe that story that got interrupted (not by me, btw), make up your own ending. It will be just as entertaining and every bit as accurate. I love the part where he was having sex with Marianne Faithfull when Brian Epstein burst into the room and came on to him.

As for the forum hero-worship and the junior-high name-calling: please. Grow up.

"You Flop sounded like you helped this story end?" Welll.... alrightie then. Good luck with all that.

Let's put it this way...if I said all the stuff I wanted to I would be kicked off the fourms so  So fine I'll grow up... "You can go to hell and I'll go to Texas"

Hi
I just checked back because I was curious to see if anyone had posted anything.
I was surprised to see that I did have a little support, even if it wasn’t full-blown belief.
There are only two possible scenarios to this situation.
a. The whole thing is a pack of lies.
b. It isn’t.
I have racked my brains to think of a way to convince the doubters, and have come up with a solution.
First though I would like to correct some of the assumptions that have been made.

One. I’ve never had sex with Marion Faithful.
Two. Brian Epstein has never propositioned me.

That particular interesting situation would have been mentioned had I carried on. But I’m afraid I would not have identified the person directly. I might be sued. I would have left you to draw your own conclusions. I could have posted this story on a million websites but chose this one on impulse after reading a few existing posts and realising that you guys would recognise the trials and tribulations that wannabees go through when trying to get started in the music business. I guess I forgot that there are always snipers no matter what you write about.
If these people didn’t snipe then they would remain in obscurity. By sniping they get recognised. (You know who you are)
I admit though (Get your sniping rifles ready) I have left a bit of the story out in order to eliminate the boring bits, so the timeline might be slightly out of kilter, though I can’t see where.
Our bass player from the Hi Cats, Tony Gaskell is still playing to this day, in a Country and Western band (Yes we love your Country music over here).
He also has a music shop on Ebay. Has had it for years.
http://members.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI. ... gazgaskell

He also wrote a full account of the Hi Cats and how they started. You can read it for yourself at
www.merseybeat.co.uk/articles-details.p ... sts&id=564

I could to carry on with the story but you must remember that I am now in my 60s and I can’t remember everything that happened in the absolute correct order.
I have saved the original postings on a Word document. Just in case I might post them on another site. I can easily re-post them on this site. But, please put your rifles away.
I have no idea whether my efforts are a waste of my time without being told and not to get my sharries kissed or any other part of my anatomy.

JT
