Like a lot of people, I prefer to wear in my guitars in my own time. As awesome as I thought the Road Worn line looked, they just came off as "gimicky" when I had them in my hands.

Granted, and I agree...but at least Fender took some trouble with it.

The main thing I object to with the Road Worn concept is that Fender is pretending that they are selling instruments that are true "players" -- when it's all just cosmetic (I've always been leery of the collectors' insistence on pristine instruments: to me, that's a sign that it didn't sound or play good enough for someone to want to pick up).

Yeah, to satiate the "I can't wait - I must have it now" society that we've all become!!! You can get a brand new guitar, that looks 40 years old, shipped directly to your doorstep OVERNIGHT. Wow!

What's worse about it is they're all relic'd identically. If you get a RW you're not getting anything unique, but I'm sure fender won't mind the extra 300 bucks.

I bought a RW P Bass some weeks back, I bought because it sound and felt the best over the other P Basses I tried, including more expensive ones. The looks are subjective, you either like them or not and maybe Fender should consider doing an unreliced nitro finish MIM. For me I'm OK with the looks, it's far less beaten up than my '63 P. Anyway I'm very happy with it and have now done the mods that I bought it for, namely an extra P p/up.
