Is there a site that you can enter the serial number of a fender bass guitar that can give you specific information concerning your fender bass?

Yes. Go to the RESOURCES page using the link in my forum signature below, click on the INSTRUMENT HISTORIC DATA category from the list of resource categories. A full list of dating resources of all types will open. Scroll about halfway down the page to the one called GUITAR DATER PROJECT FOR FENDER. On that site just type in any complete Fender serial number and see what happens!

When I enter the number for my CIJ 51 Reissue P-Bass I get:
Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 2005 - 2006

Which is weird because I bought it from Instrument Pro in January of 2008. So it sat around somewhere for a great while. It wasn't in stock at Instrument Pro and they had to order it since it was Sunburst. The carton was factory sealed. That was an interesting discovery!

I've found a few people selling instruments as rare FULLERTON basses that really were made at Corona with GUITAR DATER PROJECT.

There is lots of dating resources on my DATA page, including my own collection of numbering schemes in my FENDER FIELD GUIDE to serial numbers and how to decrypt pot codes. It is only 4 pages long and you can print it and keep a copy in your vehicle in case you run across something and want to date on the spot before plunking down a bunch of money because they told you it was a 64 but it really is a 67. That would be quite a difference would it not?
