It has lower tension than my old string but i think im gonna use to it.
It has loud output that i dont even hav to use my amp when im practicing alone. I love the tone... Sumthing that u cant get wd cheappies.
Hehe! It took me hours to set it up coz im having fret buzz wid the E string but i think im done.
Il see later after work if it cahanged. Hehe!
Im so happy! Tnx brother dave for recommending TI EB344!

You are welcome.

Since these are medium tension strings you will probably have to loosen the truss rod to add some relief to the neck. Try one-quarter to one-half turn tops. Wait a day and turn it again another quarter turn if you need more relief. If you are still having problems after a couple of adjustments I'd see a tech and have them get it right. Then all you have to do is change strings one at a time and you are all set.

To see how to adjust it read this and look at the illustrations on how to adjust the truss rod:
http://www.garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/setupmanual.html

It takes a couple of months for the strings to settle down tone wise. I usually mute them with some foam for a couple of months.

No you can't get that sound with any cheap strings I've tried. At my age I'm so hearing impaired I have to use an amp. LOL.

Brotherdave i cant lower the action of my strings.
Its a lil bit higher than my previous set.
Or maybe its the tension of the TI dat makes it seem higher?
Hows ur action wd ur bass? D u prefer low or hi?
I want to make the action as low as possible..

I have a 2008 American Standard Precision and a 2000 Precision(MIA) and I use Ernie Ball 2806's(flats) on both. I like the feel and sound.

My action is fairly low on the E and G string and higher on the A & D strings.

If I stack 2 credit cards on top of each other and place them under the strings the strings will hold them in place against the fretboard up to about the 15th fret on both of my slab necks.

Did you add more relief in the neck? Sounds like you need more relief.

Let me know how it shakes out. Also you might want to get a tech to set it up.

Thought I'd check in to see how things are settling in.

If you are still having problems getting a good set up, take it to a tech who specializes in bass setups.

That is exactly what I wound up doing yesterday with one of my basses. After a recent string type change to flats on it I've fiddled with it a few times and decided it was time for professional help. It sounds fabulous but I can not get the action low enough. For some reason the shop I use always does a better job on setups than I do. They have way more experience than I do and the feeler gauges to do a setup to Fender specs and then I can usually make minor adjustments myself and then they are perfect. But after they get done it is way closer than if I do it.

I hate fooling with my own truss rod more than about a half turn. It makes me real nervous. But I'd be happy to turn yours for you!

My Fender '51 Precision has 9050L stainless flats. Although, my '61 Hofner has LaBella Deep Talkin' Beatle bass flats and my '63 Hofner has Pyramid Gold flats.

I wonder what strings r u using?
M still usind d stock string on my bass which is d 8250m wd taperwound 110 e string.
I luv it!
M planning to buy a new set.
Wat r ur preferd sets?

Personally, I like the Fender 7150L Original Bass Strings. They have a solid steel core with a pure nickel winding that gives the strings a full, rich sound. I have noticed that many people seem to like flatwound strings, probably because of the feel and the strings don't wear down the frets as much. Those are the benefits of flatwound strings. However, I prefer the sound of pure nickel wound strings over steel wound strings.

Both my MIM p basses have Fender medium light stainless steel roundwound (.045, .065, .080, .100) and my other MIM p bass tuned
B-E-A-D has the same (.065, .080, .100, with a .120 B string).

Couldn't agree more. Steel strings are just too bright for me.

Anyway, I'm just thinking about switching to flatwounds. Would it be too smooth to play other than Motown-styled songs? :)

Flatwound strings are great for jazz, motown and other smooth genres. If you like pure nickel wound strings, they are great for rock, pop and pretty much everything else. Flatwounds work well on fretless basses, too. Unfortunately, I have not found a set of pure nickel wound flatwounds, but let me know if you find some. Thanks! :D

Yes, that was my guess on the genres. I'm thinking about nickel wound ones, not the pure nickel-type.

Thanks for the hint, I'll think about it... Thing is, my current set of strings has just begun to work right for me (after 2 months of practising, rehearsing and even performing), so no re-stringing for me for a while now. :)

p.s.: I looked around on some webstores and I couldn't see any pure nickel flatwound sets either. There are some pure nickel roundwounds but no flats.

However, there are chrome strings when it comes to flatwounds. (I guess they are even brighter than the ones made of stainless steel.)
