if you can find a P bass lite it would be a better idea than all your other choices in my opinion. it has a light design and it also has active pickups which sound great

I've got an '87 MIJ P "E" series that I bought new. I finally swapped out the pickup about a year ago. Not bad mileage for a pickup. I do my own setups and tweak it from time to time as needed. I don't think I could be happier with any other P no matter where it was made. I added a new Aerodyne about 4 months ago for a little different feel and tone but will never give up my P.

There really is something about all-black / maple neck, isn't there? That's a lovely bass - thanks for the pic!

MIM Classic Series 50s P is best value in the P bass world imho. If you are down with the 1.75 nut, you will not get a better P for that price....they easily stand up to Skylines etc....and to me demonstrate very few areas where they don't measure up to the American Vintage 57 - for half the price - necks sure seem high spec on both....

Squier Classic Vibe 60s P - if you can't gig with this bass (stock) you aren't good enough. Not a single aspect of this bass isn't 'good enough' and for the price it is a stupid value. Took one as my only bass on an Asian tour and didn't regret it for a sec.

American Standard P - holds its value pretty well, awesome instrument. Killer case.
