Well after being a Jazz bass guy, I figured it was time to add to P-Bass to the line up. So with that....picked up a 50's Precision! The Classic Series basses out of Mexico are great instruments. I had the Classic Jazz and was very happy with it. This P-Bass is no different. Very pleased with the fit and finish and sound. Also it is surprisingly light! Well used it at a blues gig last night and it sounded great. The thick P-Bass neck also gives my fingers a good workout! So here it is......note, I added the pickup cover so I have a place to anchor my thumb. Plus it looks good!

Na, I will always be a jazz guy. My Sadowsky basses are still my main players. As much as I do like the P-Bass, I still find the Jazz basses more versatile....from slap to finger style. I also like soloing on the jazz better. But for some good old R&B and Duck Dunn blues.....the P-Bass!

The Squier was kinda of a test, wet my lips as it were. I sold off the Squier and replaced it with this new one which will stay in my line up.

The Squier did have a great sound. But looks wise I think I like the 57 style P-Bass better. Just a preference.

Very nice! 8)

I like both covers on, but I'm finding the pup cover gets in my way so it comes off.
My '51RI still has both covers on. I'm happy with the tone I get playing 'tween the covers on that bass.

Very nice bass, you'll find it a welcome addition to your arsenal. Ido like the covers, I have bot bridge and pu covers.

All in a persons tastes.

Here are some photos from my first gig with the new P-Bass. I was playing with Jr. Drinkwater and the West Side Blues Band @ The Back Room Blues Bar in Boca Raton Florida. As you will see I was having a good time!

Hi Bassclef. Gorgeous bass. Cool hat. How many of those photos on the wall behind you did you have to straighten after shaking the house? What strings are you using for blues on it?

Right now it still has the stock Fender round wounds that came with the bass. But I'll be putting on either D'Addario XL170s or SIT Rock Brites, both which are nickel round wounds.

I've never been a fan of flats.

I used rounds for LOTS of years.
Threw some tapewounds on my '75 P and my '51RI a few years ago.
Been using flats on my '50s Classic P and my MIM Standard P.

I may not ever go back back to rounds.
Although, I think I should have at least ONE bass with rounds.

:)
