I picked up a new Precision V last month and have been really enjoying it. It has the same great P-bass tone I've always loved but with an extra string. Very cool. And better still, I was able to grab it from Sweetwater right before the price hike so I "saved" a bit too. I got a nice sunburst with a beautiful woodgrain.

Nice but I'm not a fan of V's just IV's and sometimes a VI's if its fretless.

I was really unsure whether to grab one of these at first. I really liked the new '08 Fenders but didn't need another P-bass. After thinking about it, however, I justified the purchase since my other P-basses are 4-strings and this would thus offer something they didn't. (***yeah I was just making an excuse***)
