The Dirnt plays sweet and sounds great.

Play all the basses you're considering a lot, you'll know which one is the right one

Your choice might depend on a couple of things. Such as what basses do you have already that you plan on keeping. It might be better to vary your tonal options.

Regarding the Highway One keep in mind there were some serious upgrades done over the past 2 to 3 years including finish switch to Satin Nitro from Satin Poly, I forget exactly when that happened. They also did a bridge upgrade too so that would be a good clue. A post upgrade Highway ONe would probably be preferable.

Yeah the Dirnt has that first generation look that I like. It has a lot going for it. But I've never played one. I would think that they would be a good gigging axe. They look rugged. Plus the second generation pickup has better RF interference rejection than the single coil. I seriously thought about getting one but bought the '51 reissue and upgraded the pickup to a split coil Lindy Fralin.

I can't comment much on the Music Man because I never owned one. However, I have had three other active basses (Ibanez SRX700, Fender Precision Bass Special & Ibanez SRX705) and what I found out was that I actually prefer passive tones for what I play. Lots of people prefer active though. I only kept one active bass just so I can have that modern tone if I need it.

That is a good choice! Especially if it is post-upgrade in the H.O. series. May it serve u well!

Yeah you should play all three but if it was me I know I'd likely grab the Highway One.
