I got a new 2008 Precision about 3 weeks ago(all ready posted on here). I changed the stock strings to EB 2806 Flats. Since the flats aren't tapered like the ones that came on it, the string height raised quite a bit. I'm trying to get the action lower but the E string saddle is bottomed out. The neck has been adjusted so there is a slight concave bow and the saddle on the E is all the way down and the A is close. Anyone else had this problem? I'm kind of screwed where I'm at because I don't know of any Luthiers. It plays ok but it would be better if I could get the action lowered. I don't know if the guys at Guitar Center can work this out or not. I have an older P(2000)and the action is a little lower and feels good. Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't see the other "action" thread until I hit "enter". Btw, I put my finger on the 1st fret and put my other arm across the neck just in front of the pick up just at the end of the back of the neck and the amount of space between the fretboard and strings are about the thickness of a credit card. I guess that is just for neck relief because the action is high.

Mine sounds good now but the action is screwed now that the stock strings are off. It'll get fixed though, I just have to find a Luthier...somewhere.

Right now the neck has a slight concave bow, or downward from the strings. To bring the neck up a bit so it is flatter, do I turn the truss rod clockwise or counter cc? The adjustment is at the neck opposite of the headstock, towards the pickguard. Holding the bass flat in front of me, strings up, and headstock away from me.

Also, the bass came with a long adjustment tool with a red handle, the allen wrench. The allen has like a rounded head on it. Does this tool lay flat or at a tilt when it is inserted into the truss adjustment. It has to get pass the pickguard. I sure don't want to strip the head.

I got the truss rod tweaked a bit and it feels good. Now that I seen how the guy did it I'm in business if it needs it again. Thanks for the input.
