I'm starting out with a strat but what a beauty this bass is!

Thanks!

I put the pup cover back on, practiced a bit, but took it off before my gig last night (Friday).
I do tend to play between the pups and the bridge at times, contrary to what I've stated before, but the cover just seems to get in my way.
I guess I feel too "locked in" with the pup cover in place.

Do these come with pickup covers?!

When I bought a new '05 50's pbass it didn't come with anything, or is that just they way they're coming in now?

No, they do not.

Hey out there!! Any views/opinions on this bass??
I bought one last year... I got the 2 tone sunburst!! Would like to hear what ye's think!!
I bought a 50's Classic P bass and i could not be happier, very authentic and the pick ups are right on w/ round wounds or flats, i use the flats right now and this bass sounds simply amazing and authentic, great buy and well worth the$$

I bought a Classic '50s P in fiesta red about three years ago, and it has become my numero uno. Great sound, great thump.

The fairly chunky (by today's standards) neck is thinner than the '51 RI (I also have one of those) but for people who like skinny Jazz necks, it may mean an adjustment. My favorite feature of the neck is the smaller frets, which allow me to get around a lot faster than "medium jumbos" as on the typical P bass. I can also do slides almost like on a fretless.

It's true, the neck must be removed to adjust the truss rod, but in three years (in humid East Texas) I've had to do that exactly once, about a week after I got it.

I'm loving mine, and there's a local studio player who says, every time we meet, "when are going to sell me that orange bass?" Right now I'm doing a lot of guitar playing, and the bass has made its way with a close friend to Dallas for more gigging.

I sorta wish mine were honey blonde, but the color's not a deal breaker -- you can't hear paint.

Oh yes, and I put the obligatory flat wounds on it.
I put flats on my 50's P bass and now it has the authentic vintage sound and man oh man are the pick ups clear! Well worth the DR's or D'Addarios flatwounds

I put Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats on all my basses now. They are pricey, but they last for years, and sound and feel better than the others I have tried.
