I've listened to Iron Maiden for quite some time and I always liked Steve's
tone. In fact I was never a big Maided fan but I was in a band several years ago and the guitarist told me that I played like Steve and had his
sound, I use a 73 P bass with an SVT.
Recently I was looking up Steve Harris sig. strings and saw that they
were flats. I would've never thought he uses flats seeing that his tone is
usually bright and ringin. Are his strings brighter than most flats? I would like to here some feedback from those who have used them.

i've used them. the secret of his tone is NEW set of strings every night and rotosound flats. yeah, they sound very bright when they're new but they start to lose high freq after 2-3 hours of playing.

Does anyone know what set he was using before his signature set came out a few years ago? Just wondering!

I've used regular Roto 77 flats and enjoyed the tone, very rock-ish. I can see why Harris would like them. For most things I play, however, I like TI flats better.
