Thanx for your reply Dave !!!

Seems very logic to me at this point.
If the bass was sprayed in Poly, would it be much thicker???
When you see the new Road Worn basses they have a very thin laquer.
The point were you rest your arm you just can't see no layers at all!
This must be a colour-nitro in two tone sunburst IMO or........??????

Thanx man!

Theo

Ps what do you play these days?

Poly is not really thicker in principle, no. But it is cheaper and they may not be as stingy with it. The thin nitro finishes are also on the Highway One basses too. They are only doing two color sunbursts now as far as I know.

If you mean what instruments, I mostly play a '54 PARTS P-bass with TI EB344 PowerBass strings, a non-stock rosewood slab fretboard, medium jumbo frets, top loading modern bridge. It is worth nothing to anyone but me. #2 is an '08 51 RI P-Bass in sunburst with GHS Precision Flats which has a bunch of mods. #3 is a '95 Ibanez TRB70 that has a very similar neck radius to #1 & got a similar treatment to the '51 RI but set up with TI EB344's instead. I've only had it finished about a month but I'm liking it and playing it a lot. This overhaul took me about 30 hours of work. I had to do some routing to get the pickup cavities to hold the slightly larger jazz pup. It was worth it. #4 is a totally stock active '03 Ibanez SRX700 that is set up with TI Jazz Flats that I use for MusicMan type tones, which it does very well. The rest never go anywhere anymore.

If you mean what music, I play mostly a genre called Carolina Beach which includes lots of Stax/Volt, Motown, Atlantic stuff from the 50's, 60's and early 70's along with newer R&B/Dance and covers of lots of one-hit wonders. Lots of this music is also in the Northern Soul genre which more people may be familiar with. Our playlist is fairly eclectic but there is no real hard rock or metal. We play lots of music you can dance the SHAG to. I know that "SHAG" has a completely different connotation most places, but in NC, SC and VA the Shag is a very durable dance move that has survived for over 50 years. So we play about a 50 year range of covers. There is some more modern stuff we do too but 80% of our stuff are considered "standards" around here.

Since my current band is near its full potential, I'm soon working on a different project which will be another Beach/R&B/Top 40 thing. I'll be working both projects, for a while anyway. It won't be too different from what I'm doing now, just with different people. The economy is so bad here that gigs have really fallen off over the past year, so I figure two bands will get me twice the gigs...which should put me back about where I was about a year ago.
