Why dosn't Fender make maple fingerboards on their Mexi basses? They have them as an option for Mexi Strats & Teles. I would love to have a maple fingerboard on my basses. What is your thoughts on this?

Miketallica315!!!!!!!

I have a MIM Deluxe P-Bass Special. It has a maple fretboard with the satin finish. It plays very nicely. You can get maple on some of these special editons, like this one or the Geddy Lee model Jazz (Japanese). Squier makes A very nice Vintage Modified Jazz (Indonesia) with maple. I prefer the maple over the rosewood. All of my Fenders (guitars & basses) have maple 'boards. My opinion is that they look classier & feel better to play... Just an opinion...

Um..... they do..... Since last december when they upgraded the MIM standard line, they added the option of maple frettboards.

I agree about maple: it looks better, feels better, and sounds better in my opinion. My MIA bass is good ol' black body, black pickguard, maple frettboard.

Anubis, this thread is VERY old - I added the reply more tongue-in-cheek than anything! It's good that they do now, cos I want one! Soon!

I'm after buying an Arctic White/Maple, then swapping necks with my Black/Rosewood...two excellent Precision colours!
