Thank You BotherDave. Yes I like all the old Stax Motown Bassist ,but I would add Bob Babbit and lose Carol Kaye just for the fact that she said she played bass on just about everything Jamerson did.

+1 on Bob Babbitt. He still is a great player!

Another vote for Roger Waters (the reason I bought my P Bass in black with a maple fingerboard).

Anyone know if he ever uses a P bass with a white pickguard anymore, or does he still only use the black/black?

AB

All black these days, but he sometimes breaks out his sunburst with a tortoiseshell guard, and rosewood neck.

Favorite Guitarist: Josh Homme (QOTSA)
Favorite Bassist: Nick Oliveri (QOTSA 1999-2005)

I like guitar/bass solos, but I like to hear the sound of guitar and bass playing together well. These guys have made some excellent songs.

Other favorite duos:
Flea and Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Krist Novaselic and Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)
The Stooges (too many bassists and guitarists deceased, but they were great)
Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince (The Kills)
Billie Armstrong and Mike Dirnt (Green Day)
