I personally do not like "reliced" basses.

If I want a bass to look like crap, I'll yreat it like crap. I understand the want for an older bass, better sound, construction, style and yada yada but to buy that is like buying a pair of new ripped jeans. It's just not my thing.

Maybe some people will go for these, but personally if I'm gonna spend over $1K on a guitar, I don't want a freakin mark on it!

I do not get the attraction to buying a bass that looks like it's been dragged across the stage a few times already. I will never get rid of my P Bass and I'm sure in twenty years it will looked aged.

The Custom Shop has been doing the relic thing for a long time. Apparently there is a market for this sort of thing, but it ain't my thing at all.

That is a premium price for sure. Now I might be wrong but while there is obviously some appeal for the Road Worn look, it just looks better on stage to have a bass that is classy looking! I don't mean it has to be minty perfect, but I play a bass about every day for at least 2 or 3 hours and sometimes 6 or 8 hours and I've never had a bass get that worn. If I had one get that worn I'd probably be too old to play it!

Yeah I wouldn't pay the premium they're asking for a fake relic, but I guess there's a market for them else Fender wouldn't be doing it.

I agree with sound and other variables.

I would like to paint the story with real battle scars, not prefabricated wounds.

The road worn's look pretty cool I think...but it would definitely mean much more to make mine into a road worn over the years! I do love the red p-bass though...looks pretty tight :!:

Was at my Guitar Center last night, huge display of the Road Worn guitars and basses. They look like crap.

I guess they accomplished what they set out to do.
