Hi,
I am new to the forum. I've already got a Fender American Standard 4 String Jazz. I am looking for a second bass. I noticed this one on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Fender-Deluxe-Active ... 240%3A1318

What can you tell me about this bass? Has any had any experience with this type? Compared to my American Standard how will it sound? Being made in Mexico, should I expect a bass that is not as good as mine for example. Thank so much.

Mexican-made Precisions are fine: I own two of them, the Classic '50s and a Standard FSR that I put a Warmoth fretless neck on. No issues whatsoever, and great P sound.

I've got a 60th Anniversary Standard (MIM) Precision - absolutely lovely. Have no concerns about MIM my friend!

The Classic Series 50's P bass is one of the best basses Fender makes. I used to own a Big Block Precision when I was trying out active basses. I found that I personally really didn't dig actives, but that bass was awesome.

The Ensenada plant puts out some amazing basses. Even the Standard Series basses have come light years in the past decade. However, If you're looking for a great back up for your American Standard you really can't go wrong with a Deluxe, or Classic Series P bass.

I have even gotten to like the fiesta red, Mexican edition. And I love the gold anodized pickguard. It's like being back in the '50s, except that now my car has cup holders.

I am glad to hear such good things about the MIM, because I am a musician on a budget. I couldn't afford the extra 500 dollars to get an American made!

Always look on the used market. Actually my main P-bass, an 07 MIA, was purchased brand new in the box for $530. Right place, right time.
