Hey All,

Does anyone know anything about a New Standard (MIM) P-Bass coming out with a Maple fingerboard?

I'm based in UK and have come across this on a UK online store called DV247.com.

Tried looking on the Fender pages but can fin no reference to it???

It has the part number 0146102302 and the listing reads:

The Fender Standard Precision Bass Maple fingerboard, Lake Placid Blue finish incorporates the best of the old and new, offering modern single-coil pickups, shielded body cavities, medium jumbo frets and vintage style Fender Bridge.

The Fender Standard Precision Bass comes with a tinted neck, parchment pickguard and a ‘70s-style logo.

Any Info???????

Sonds like a really nice bass.
I had the electron blue MIM precision and it was a great bass, but i sold it to fund my 57 cij precision, it played awesome and i would recomend it to anybody who wanted to upgrade to a better bass, it really is a decent bass ( hell its a fender )
As for the new fenders with maple fingerboards, i wish they had been available last year as i wouldnt have bought my 57 reissue as i the mexican precisions are well underated ( i love em ) plus their a damn sight cheaper than the CIJ and MIA ones.

Yes, a LPB and Maple P may be stopping at my house. They will probably be out after NAMM, Jan 15-18 2009.

I have to admit this does not thrill me as I would have probably chosen the maple fretboard over my new Std PBass with rosewood were it avail now or at least had Fender announced it's debut more publicly.

However I think it will be really really sharp.

Will do Zod. Gotta say I'm really pleased Fender has decided to re-issue the bass, and looking at the specs they've given it and Alder body this time and a chrome pickguard, with vintage neck dimensions too - 1.75in nut and 7.25 radius, AWESOME!!!!

I'm pretty excited to play one of those Steve Harris basses myself. I bet they'll be a hit. I'm not a big fan of blue though personally...but, of course if they sound and play amazing who cares.

I'm waiting for them to come out. I love maple fretboards. I'm debating on the LPB or the red one. Of course after I get one I'll have to decide which pick guard to go with.

I would have bought maple over rosewood if I had the chance. Choice is good.
