I'm sure this has been discussed on here before, sorry if it has. I have a couple older basses, 1992 and a 2000, both have rosewood fretboards. What do you use to treat rosewood? I've read where some use lemon oil. Is that good to use? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

IMO you wiil go cross-eyed trying to figure out what to use. I use the Dunlop 65 stuff on rosewood and have never had a problem.

No more oil! The oil off your fingers is good for a rosewood board.

Yes. Lemon oil is the recommended substance. Treat it and let it sit for 24 hours, then wipe off any residue that doesn't get soaked up into the rosewood or ebony. Then re-string the instrument. You don't want to get lemon oil on the strings if you can help it as lemon oil will shorten their useful life. Be sure to remove all excess lemon oil before restringing.

Brotherdave, what about tung oil? I used that on my thirsty pbass neck and it seemed to have helped significantly. Are there any disadvantages to using tung oil?
