I've got what is I believe a Precision bass body and bridge. Most of the finish is removed, and besides the pickguard and bridge, there is no other hardware left.

What are some cues (manufacturing, design, etc.) I can use to;

A.) Decide if this is actually a Fender or just a replica?

B.) Figure a rough dating

Have you checked for any writing or serial numbers anywhere on the body?
even under the pick guard?
I wouldn't know how to help you otherwise, sorry.

If its an older Precision body (late 70's or earlier) it should have small dowel marks on the back sort of near the center line of the body. These holes were where the body was mounted on a table to hold it still for the pin router. They show up as small dark " birthmarks" about 2mm in diameter. If the front routings are original, the older P basses are not routed between the pickup route and the control cavity. Newer P basses have a channel routed between these two areas.
Good luck restoring your bass.
