I'm guessing you mean a Mexican series Fender which are generally considered to be better than Squiers, however you do find the odd Squier that plays amazingly. Best thing to do is go and try them out and see which one you prefer.

Which ever your price point is. Squiers are generally cheaper to get. You can buy they're top of the line with the amount of money you're going to spend on a Fender MIM. You will always have that stigma - I don't - of could've bought a Fender when you get a Squier. I would get a better bridge and/or new pup(s) if I went with Squier. That's what I'm looking for right now for my VM JB - BadAss II or III for it.

First I buyed a Squier P-Bass, but after some time I tried out a Fender P-Bass and i thought that this one were much better, so i buyed the Fender and sold the Squier.. But for a few weeks ago I came over a Squier J-Bass and I thought this was a good bass so I buyed that one to.. :p so now I have a Fender P-Bass and a Squier J-Bass.. ;) But I still prefer the Fender..

fender all the way, if its your first bass then you could get the mexican made one standard, i have that awesome for a first bass, especailly in the sunburst finish. later when you learn more about basses it would be a good thing to have a fender. but if you buy a squier/cheap fender you can always sell it and/or buy another bass. up to you

I'd go with the Squier, sure, Fenders are nicer but my friends all play squier strats and teles and I've played my friend's squier p and its not like having a fender makes you a better player.

Get what you can afford but keep in mind you will need to graduate up to a real Fender. Even the MIM's are built better than the squire. I have a nice Squire that I practice with and I have a MIM Fender I gig with. The Squire has smaller tuning machines and feels flimsy compared to the Fender. It really does. In a year or so I will buy me an American Made Fender Precision. Yes, Fenders make you play better.

Pick the fender if you have the money. they are biultt wayy better, and play bewtter. plus the neck does bow as fast. or at all. my friend nhas a squier, it is nice, but the neck is really bad. it needs a truss rod adjustment. but fenders are way better, and just give oyu a truer sound

id go for a top of the line squier as they are just as good as the mexican made fenders, i have both a fender standered mexican p-bass and squier 5 string p-bass and the quality and sound is great on both, they were about the same price i seem to remember.

Depends really on whether you want Fender or Squier on the head, I reckon.
The top end Squiers are as good as the Mex Fenders - The VM J and P bass are fab!
Myself, I have to admit I'd go for the Fender though. Very upgradable and the tag does have a certain mojo.
Oh yes.

I've played the Squier VM P and I've owned MIM Fender P Basses. There isn't really a comparison. The Fender Basses are of much higher build quality, wood and hardware quailty, and they sound much better. The best advice is to go to a shop and play as many basses as you can, and within your budget get the one you like best.

i actually think the top of the line squiers are better made than MIM fender. the vintage modified jazz bass is better made than my fretless MIM jazz bass. fender japan are great as well./

There are a few of us out there who actually think the Fender MIM P-Bass is better than the American made P-Basses. Few being the key word, but still...

Fender is the flagship line, hence the name. If you can afford the Fender, go for it.

Though the Squier Series offers award winning ‘entry level’ basses that are directly related to its big brother. They will get you in the ballpark in relation to tone and feel. Again, it will depend on your budget. :)
