I currently own a old Japanese made P Bass, (primarily a guitar player) I am thinking about getting a new Highway One P Bass. Anyone out there have one of these?

Pro's, Cons etc...

I've not got one, but I'm a fan. They are excellent basses and I'm especially glad that Fender put the Badass II on it, really gives the bass a nicer sound. If you can't go all the way for a standard MIA, the Highway One is definitely the way to go!

I do not currently own a HWY 1 bass, though I have in the past. The one I owned plus others I have tried in guitar shops where nice and light weight.

I had one of the previous series and thought it was an amazing bass. Nailed the 60's P tone and played super smooth. Moved it along to get my standard believe it or not. I've yet to play one of the current series, but as they've added the GRN's to them like the AS basses I'm in no rush.

If you're a maple fretboard player then they aren't for you. They don't come with maple fretboards which is a shame, I personally prefer rosewood but I know a few people who have been put off the Highway One for that reason. I also love the 70's styling, great touch.

I think the only criticism i can possibly think of is the fact that they have the tuners similar to those open gear ones on the mexican fenders. but other than that. they are awesome basses. love the satin laquer. but the machines are no problem because they stay in tune, nnd can be changed.

Just purchased a Highway 1 P bass.. LOVE IT. It nails the 60's tone I've been looking for. Plays well, great bass.
