I've got aOne of the Hot rod p-basses made backi in the early 00s. I know the j-pickup is suppoda to hotter than normal. But, what about the p-pickup? Is that hot as well? In case you're interested, it's Sunset orange, and a real SWEET player. Thnx John

Very nice bass!!

P pickups (being hum-bucking pickups) don't need much help with boosting the output in comparison to a single coil jazz pick-up.

I am pretty sure the p is pretty average in output.

The name: "Hot Rod" relates to the fact they added a jazz bass pickup to a p bass...not the output...they modified from the factory a standard design...hence (Hot Rod). A very common after market job many of p bass users did.

Thanks. I thought I read somewhere the j-pickup was hotter than normal. I could be wrong. And I frequently am, just ask my wife. Ha
