Yeah I bought two SX Ps and a Jazz fiver. I put a tort guard on one and a pearloid on the other P. They're nice basses, like Squiers but cost even less.

So I got the 59 CS back. The luthier was able to get a little more out of the truss so I'm living with it for now since I've decided I like TI flats better than La Bellas anyway and TIs are lower tension so I'll likely be turning the truss back to the left anyway.

What brand pg's did you use? How much of a pain were they?
How's the P neck feel? I read that the SX P is a tad wider than the Fender P. I know it's only $100, so I should just do it. That silver/maple P up on the site now is calling to me.

The tort pg was a Fender 62 reissue and the pearloid was an SX. Neither fit right, not even the SX. I had a luthier install the tort since it needed to be cut to fit, but it looks great now. The pearloid I put on since it almost fit, but the tone and volume knobs are tight and a bit crooked now. For the cheap price they start with I'd suggest paying a luthier to give it a fret dress and install the pg while he's at it.

FYI -- the pickups on these rock, you shouldn't need to change them. The hardware is passable too.
