Hey guys just wanted to know whats up in the way of color for basses i have a red epiphone (raving P.O.S.), Black Warlock, 3-tone sunburst P-bass, and a 3-tone J-bass. So just stop by and leave me an answer that'd be cool. Thanks.[/list]

I've always like natural color, shows the wood grain and all. Right now I'm diggin' Olympic White.

I am not a fan of natural basses. I like colors. This is tops for me though.

+1 on the Olympic White which I like a lot. See through Blond Swamp Ash Telecaster Basses however are the fat cat daddy finishes though in my book. I prefer my '51 Reissue in Sunburst over the only other option. That Butterscotch version looks like a school bus to me & one of my least favorite Fender colors ever. I'm more of a nitro fan than poly, but you have to take what they give you these days! I think Mr. Leo Fender used nitro for a reason.

The finishes that the better lumber winds up with are natural, sunbursts and other see-throughs on just about every grade of Fender instrument. When the body blanks come in at Corona they pull the very best blanks and send them to the Custom Shop first thing. Next they pull the better of the remaining 2 piece blanks for natural and the other see-the-grain finishes like the various sunbursts. Whatever is left is destined for the opaque finishes. Neck blanks go through the same preliminary selection process at Corona.

OMG, I actually like the Butterscotch brotherdave, I'm not big on colors that much, as I like natural the best. I would be order of : natural, see through colors, Olympic white, then black.

In this order:

Black, with tortoise pguard, dark rosewood fboard, tinted neck varnish (not natural, but the darker vintage looking tint)

Blue Flower, clear pguard, tinted maple neck/fboard

Tie for 3rd:
olympic white, with white pguard

sunburst (two tone, or a 3 with just a touch of the yellow peeking out from under the pguard edges), tortoise pguard

both with rosewood fboard, tinted neck varnish (not natural, but the darker vintage looking tint)

For me I prefer the sunbursts . 3 tone or tobacco and even the cherry burst . And including a tortoise shell pg or white or even the gold anodized.

My favorite is my 1978 Jazz Bass with a Sienna Sunburst finish, maple neck and block inlays. It looks and sounds great. I also have a 1976 Precision which is natural with a maple neck and dot inlays and a 1997 Alembic 5 string which has a mahogony back, walnut top, maple neck with ebony fretboard with dot inlays. I love all 3 basses but the finish on the Jazz is by far my favorite.

Favourites for me are black/maple and black/ rosewood, and I'm real keen on the old 51-style blonde/maple. Lately though, I've had a hankering for a Sonic Blue/Rosewood....no idea why, it just jumped out at me one day. I might see if I can afford the Squier CV 60s P, as that's available in Sonic Blue.

A good 3TS/mapleb-w-b guard also works for me.

Jonhson!! Sorry..... Anyways, nice bass! I'm not a big fan of P-basses. :( I have 2 Jazz basses, but not one P-bass. Oh well, it's whatever feels best, right?

I've said my fave colors, but not big on pg as some of you are. If I have to get a pg, it would be a smoked mirror, or brushed stainless. 8)
