I have a 98 Precision Deluxe with the 9V preamp. I would like the 18V. Can this be upgraded? Where can I buy the part?

Thanks!

I dont know if the system can work at 18 volts . But if it can work at 18 volts you only need to connect another 9 volt batt in series .

I would strongly suggest replacing the preamp if you want to go to 18 volts. I don't see any real reason to do that so long as the original preamp is working OK, unless you just want to. I definitely would not try to run 18 volts through a 1998 preamp designed for 9 volts. There have been major advances in onboard preamps since 1998, so I can understand wanting to put one in.

Here are some: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/bass_preampsaguilar.htm

There also was an Aguilar DB924 Outboard Bass Preamp which would work almost as well with no modification to your instrument required. I think it has been discontinued recently.

Another option is to leave your '98 Fender 9 volt alone so long as it works OK and buy yourself an 18 volt bass all ready to go.

Good luck!
