Hello Everyone

At some point in the past 30 years the knobs were removed from my 1967 P Bass and have since joined common sense and common courtesy in the MIA file.
I have recently bought two sets of factory replacement knobs, but they are too narrow for the pot stems on my bass, which are original. When I try to put them on the stems, they won't slide down over the pot stems (and yes, I've removed the tiny mounting screws before trying to install them on my bass). All I can figure is that the pot stems on the older P-Basses were slightly thicker than those of more recent years.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a set of replacement knobs for a 1967 P-Bass with original pots?

Thanks in advance!

Ron

Just call a fender service center, or guitar repair shop. I recently had the pots in my bass changed to original style pots (it came with mini pots), and I had to get knobs with a larger hole to fit them. I would think any repair center could get you some with no problem.

The One-Quarter Inch Shaft knobs for a SOLID SHAFT are what you need. You are probably trying the knobs intended for the split shaft pots. You could use the ones HERE: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Knobs/Dome_knobs/Dome_Knobs.html Those are an economical solution because they are aftermarket but for a little more you can also get the original Fender knobs HERE:
http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/guitarknobs_fender.htm
The part number is Fender 099-2056-000 if you want to order through a local Fender dealer.

Good luck!

Dave
