The soundtrack for that movie was done by two completely different bands. The Womack fronted title track featured Mr. Womack's band called PEACE. His brother Harry Womack played bass for most PEACE studio sessions until he was murdered in 1975.

The instrumental tracks were done by J.J. Johnson with David Hood playing electric bass. The two groups were working at different studios I believe.

If it is the Womack title song you are asking about then that is probably his brother Harry who did most -if not all- of the studio bass tracks for Mr. Womack until Harry was stabbed to death by his own girlfriend in 1975. The title track for this film was recorded with an acoustic bass I think and not electric. (Bobby Womack got his first certified gold record for a song called "HARRY HIPPIE" which was a song he wrote about his brother.)

David Hood, who is credited as bassist on the J.J. Johnson portions of the project, later did some work at Womack sessions after Harry Womack's murder.
