You can change the bridge for a badass but it could be possible that you have to drill the body .

Regarding to strings , I could suggest you any set but it is best for you to experiment with different makes and in the end keep using the ones you like most !

Nice guitar! You probably can go with the B**A** without drilling, they have 3 and four hole models, check out their website.

Good luck.

All BadAss bridges will replace original piece w/o any drilling, unless your oe bridge is a special one. If you have string thru, BadAss III is what you need.

If you're happy with the tones you're getting and the sustain.. etc, then don't mess with anything. One of the nice things about the Deluxe P is that it is either string through or top load. My first "real" bass was a US Pbass Deluxe that I bought back in '97 and I haven't even changed the type of strings I use on it. I did however just pick up another one that is a few years newer (has the smaller [ie. crappy] tuners) and I'll probably play around with that one a little, just to see what it can do, but like I said, if you're happy with the bass now, don't screw it up!
Coming soon.... Pics of my latest Deluxe P... (not that anyone cares, I just like to see it on my monitor while I play it)

Hi,

Between the Leon Quan Badxxx I, II and III you will find a drop in replacement for any Fender solid body. However, there are lots of other aftermarket bridges besides Leo Quan's including GOTOH, HIPSHOT, SCHALLER and WILKINSON.

+1 on the Fender Deluxe Bass Bridge! Love 'em. Might be one of the best bridge designs ever! Top loading AND body through loading is possible with it. Pre-grooved. Fits the '51 Reissues. A mighty good bridge. I prefer it on body through basses as it adds the top loading option which is recommended for Labella flats and other flats too. A swell little bridge. It is small but MIGHTY FINE! I'm not real keen on endless sustain, but I am keen on tone. Longer sustain is not always a good thing. Bad tone sustained longer is no improvement!

Regards,
Dave
