Hey gang,
I had my pickguard off the other day on my 2008 American Standard P-Bass and noticed a 1/2 in wide by 1/2 deep circular hole just up from where the body curves to fit on your leg while playing sitting down. If no one knows what it is off hand I'd be happy to post some shots. It doesn't affect playability or sound at all, the beauty sounds great and visually it is covered by the pickgaurd but thought I'd ask to see if any of the gurus on the forum had any insight. Thanks!

I think your talking about the CNC routing hole the Fender uses. As shown below towards the middle right, about nickel size.

Zod- Thats the one! I figured it had something to do with the production process but would of never guessed it was for CNC routing. Thanks for settling a curious mind!

Ohhh! You have no idea how much I hate that routing ! :x When I bought my Jazz bass I wanted to take the pickguard off for a Jaco look and when I saw that neck pick up routing I went so mad  ! Please Fender ! Dont do that to any guitar or bass body ! Please !

Hey why not start a thread on that subject ?
