I recently broke a pickup mounting screw in an original 1960 precision. I'm looking to replace it with the correct screw but the standard size seems to be quite a bit smaller than the original broken screw. Does anyone know the screw size that Fender used in 1960 and where to get the correct replacement part?

For original replacement parts, websites like ebay, reverb.com & such might be your best bet. But chances to find the mounting screws alone might be slim - even more so with just one screw. Try something like "pre cbs precision bass parts" for googling.

For dimensions, why not measure one of your screws. And since someone else some day might also need the info, posting the results here would be a nice gesture.

1.5 inch or 38.1 mm. Couldn't find any reference to this screw online as a replacement part

Don't you have a local luthier or guitar tech you just drop by and get a screw from? They'll have bins of spares of all kinds. Should be a cinch.

Ordered what looked like the correct screws. When they arrived they were too small. Too thin with an unthreaded section that was too short. Can anyone help me out with the correct screw for this bass

These are 1 13/32 " X 8/64 " diameter.
They are too long ? Or what ?

Wich size do you need ? Mesure one of your original screw

Are diameter are important or not ? wich size are the original screw ? # 8 ?
Do you really need 1 1/2 " ? Mid standard screw don't fit ? Too short ?

1 1/4" will not hold pickups ? Sure of that ? what is wrong ? Screw can't reach woo thread ?

I can't find longer screw
