For anyone that wants a vintage era Precision without the high vintage bass prices this may be your puppy at $899.99 The big deal is the period correct 7 1/4" neck radius; vintage style frets, and 1 3/4" nut width and thicker c neck profile in classic white maple. Of course no leftys, but that's just the way it goes.

Interestingly enough, Fender's $1,999.99 American Original '50s Precision has the modern 9 1/2" neck radius and a slightly narrower 1 5/8" nut width (which I like better). "Thick C" neck profile (which I love) is derived from the '63 Precision and is the same as the American Professional Precision. The pickups are all different.

That bass reminds me of my 50's Reissue Precision I had back in the 90's, but it was in Olympic White, and I don't even know what the fretboard radius was, since I didn't know about those kind of specs back then. Sounds pretty good, too. 8)

I bought a really nice Fender 50s P bass back in '17. Honey Blonde finish. LARGE 1.75 inch width at the nut and the 7 1/4 inch radius. I think that the new Vintera bass' are exactly the same. Except that Linnin states that the neck thickness is, well thick. Can anyone tell me if the bass is different in that respect but mostly the same in every other dept.?

Here's the official Fender marketing jargon:"Remarkably comfortable, the “Vintage C"-shaped neck profile is sculpted for a vintage-style playing feel—thinner at the first fret, thicker at the twelfth." So you'll really have to play one and compare for yourself. Fender also states the pickup is revoiced. Although Fender doesn't say what the magnets are, the new Player series left ceramic-ferrite magnets behind for the more expensive AlNiCo V. You could always call Fender and ask. If all things are equal (they rarely are) and the only difference is the tone on your '17, a pickup swap is all you'd need.
