Hey people, I just got this 1973 pbass, and I'm into a deep investigation about it. Recently, I've disarmed the neck, and there's a print that says something like ARMENIR X or ARMENIE X. I wanna know what's that, if it's a manufacturer or what... Cmon experts, help me with this.. Greetings from Bolivia...

PD There's an image that i've uploaded. Do u see the prit on the left side? Just up from the down/left hole... That's it! And forget about the picture's date...

That stamp is probably the name of somebody in the factory who either worked on the neck or inspected it. I have the same kind of stamp on my 1973 Precision Bass neck, except mine is "L. HUGHES"

You may also want to check the edge of your neck at the end that connects to the body. If there are numbers there, you can find out when the neck was made. This code was used from 1972 until 1980. If there is no number like this on your neck it might be a little older than 1972 or 1973.

On my neck I have the code 0101-1533, which means:

01 = Precision Bass neck
01 = Rosewood fingerboard
15 = 15th week
3 = 1973
3 = 3rd day of the week, Wednesday.
My neck was made on Wednesday, April 11, 1973.

According to the Fender bass book , serial numbers on the "F" neck plate starting from 370000 up to 550000 is a 1973 bass . So you rneck plate number says it is a 1973 p bass .

The name on your neck is X. Armenta. I beleive the X stood for Xavier. X Armenta worked at the Fender factory for many years. I have 2 basses from the mid 70's with necks made by him, they are great! He was an excellent craftsman. Enjoy your bass !
