I play an American P-Bass deluxe and I just lost one of my screws for the tuning pegs. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, what did you do to replace it? I have searched Lowes, Home Depot and Guitar Center and no one carries this size/shape. ideas?

1. If you bought it new, take it back to where you bought it. Have them get you a replacement. If they don't have the screw in stock, ask them to give you one off another bass in stock then they can replace that one. Might work.

2. As mentioned there is no shortage of online parts dealers. I'd also email basspartsresource.com and angelainstruments.com through their sites telling them exactly what bass you have, what kind of tuners and maybe send them close up photos of the screw heads. Stewmac which was previously mentioned is a good source with photos here: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Tune ... crews.html

I'm sure you aren't the first person this has happened to. It is a good idea to regularly check all the screws on the bass and keep them snug, but not overly tight. When installing the replacement screw if it doesn't want to snug up to suit you, try breaking off the tip of a toothpick, dip it in a bit of wood glue, carefully slip it into the hole and push it all the way down to seat it at the bottom of the screw hole, dry overnight and reinsert the screw the next day. Works for me on strap buttons.
