I realize this is my first post. I also realize some may be skeptical. I am hoping to find some advice in order for me to help a friend (I do apologize, I've been a member of Mylespaul.com since around 2009. It's where I wound up first and well, I just stayed there.) Enough about my Canadian "politeness"....

That said, I am looking for some very knowledgeable people to chime in and provide some guidance. My Commanding Officer's Executive assistant is wanting to help her father sell his original, 1958 Fender Precision bass and matching '58 4X10 Bassman Combo.

He purchased them new in '58 and now, in his much older years, he no longer plays them and would like to sell them.

I've seen, held and had a good look over the bass. It is in absolutuely beautiful condition.
The amp will most definitely require service. When I inquired, my understanding that the amp worked when it was last "on". How long ago that was is unknown to me. I advised to not plug-in or turn the amp on as that could be a very costly mistake.

Anyways, here's the photo's I've been provided with.

Comments from anyone would be appreciated. Pricing ideas?

I do have some other photos but they're more or less the same. If required, I could go and snap some photos myself.
I'm very curious to see other's opinions on this. What I find quite remarkable is the fact that both Bass and Amp were purchased together AND stayed together with the original owner. Not too sure how common that is anymore.

I'd be surprised if a '58 P Bass in that condition didn't fetch five figures on the secondary market. A skosh less perhaps for the Bassman amp. But as you surmise, I'd inspect that amp very carefully before powering it up.
