hi pbassdudes
i accidentaly stripped my truss rod nut and my luthier put a new truss rod nut that was homemade and looked kind of bad, so i am happy that he set up the bass and all, but he left a lot, i mean a lot of relief and he says that how its supposed to be
well i trusted him but i tried another p bass(same model, same brand, same year made and even month of buy)and this one has the neck damn straigt and it has the action so low and still no buzz at all
so i adjust my neck to be more straight and it worked fine and now is with less relief but i keep hearing wood cracking and i am really scared cause last time i really destroyed my truss rod nut, my action is kind of low already but i want super low action and i can only do that by puttin the neck straight, totally straight, with no relief

PS i play very softly and maybe that why i need no relief, i have tried many basses and the ones with death straight necks work better for me
PS2 my bass is a squier VM p bass

This has been an ordeal for you. Are you able to take it to another luthier in your area? That is what I would do, find a second opinion. If the truss rod and neck are really screwed up, you may just be better off buying a new bass all together. I know it's your "baby" and I am not putting down your bass, but be glad it's only a less expensive Squier and not a MIA Fender. If it is indeed past the point of ever working correctly again, You could try to sell your current bass as is to someone as a parts bass or something, and put that money towards a new bass and remember this as a learning experience. If you don't know what you are doing, it is better to pay someone who does than screw things up. JMO

i know for americans or europeans 250$ is not a big deal but for me it means a lot, and my family is going for bad moments now so new bass = bad idea
i am going for a setup with some other luthier because the guy who reparied my bass is just too pushy and i dont really trust him, he putted lots of relief in my bass and he said it was supposed to be like that, and i know is not like that, my las resource will be sell this bass for 300$(fair price here) and with some money i was saving for a PA i could maybe buy another one but i dont want to do that, sell the bass would be very hard and find another one will be to expensive here

If your neck is almost perfectly straight and your action is still too low for your tastes I would suggest one of two things.

Bring your saddles down (Don't you know your not supposed to use your truss to resolve action issues?) or else i would start thinking about building up some callouses and get used to what your Bass is offering you.

Maybe your asking a bit too much from you bass.

test,

despite my gear i know my stuff, i am not a virtuoso bassist but but i know my stuff, my saddles are really down, my friends bass has the saddles a biy more higher than mines but he still has super low action, i know the problem is the neck, i am sure, but the thing is that i am scared to mess with that thing since last time i screwed everything, also there arent proper luthiers in my area, well there are some who are very well know they are kind of far away.

PS friends bass = squier vm p basss = my bass

Dude, $250 is not a lot, but hardly no big deal to this American. I say go to another luthier. All this guy has done to you is put you through hell with a simple truss rod issue. Good luck man.

good news guys!! i decided to adjust the bass and see if the truss rod nut turned something and it was as soft as in my acoustic guitar and my friend's electrica guitar, so i kept adjusting about 1/4 of turn a day for 2 days an now my bass is almost as playable as my friend's bass, i need to do a side by side comparison, mine has a bit more of relief though, while his doesnt has any
but i am really happy with my bass now, i wont be doing adjustments for a long time
thanks for all the support guys
