Just wondering what everyone is using for their straps. On 3 of my 4 basses I use the Levy's PM48NP3, which is a 3 1/2" neoprene padded strap. Of course with straplocks, I can switch pretty easy, but it is easier having straps that you really like on each bass that you use the most.

Then I have about 10 or so miscellaneous 2" and 3" straps laying around but I like those Levys the best.
How about you?

I got a black Ernie Ball strap with strap locks that's about 1 yr younger than my '87, and it's still on the '87. Tan Levy's strap for the VM also with strap locks. Spare black neoprene - don't know the brand, shorty, for those Jazzy/funky moments, sits chest high on the longest setting, also strap locks. All strap locks are Schaller.

Want the best? Tired of stiff store-bought mass produced leather straps? I use Italia 4 inch straps exclusively. These are really heavy duty thick straps. Soft and pliable as a fabric strap. Extraordinary!

They are so secure there is no need for strap locks. This is in fact a good thing because Schaller/Fender strap locks won't fit on them because Italia straps are so thick. I've been using Italia straps for over 3 years and I've had no problems whatsoever other than wishing they made more colors like blue.

My favorite color is the very light CREMA with an old white 54 P-bass, great combo and my first Italia strap. After you use one of these really light (almost white) Crema color leather straps at a few outdoor summer gigs the strap gets some real cool looking discoloration where you sweat on it which makes the strap look as relic as the guitar.

Each strap is handmade in Marina, California, so delivery can take weeks so don't be in a big rush. Italia will make them regular or extra-long. They also make 2.5 inch widths for guitar.

Sometimes they put straps on eBay which is how I found out about them. Note: Italia is known to make second chance offers even if the reserve isn't met so you might get a big bargain. You won't find a strap anywhere close to these at any store. Custom made in the USA by skilled craftsmen who are in no rush and the suede lining locks the bass in place on your shoulder. Sweet! The closest thing in the stores to these are the Moody leather straps which cost more and are not custom made and the lining isn't as good.

Their website is http://www.italiastraps.com I've never seen nicer straps used by anyone anywhere. Flashier yes but nicer, no!

I keep them on the basses all the time, meaning I never take them off. There is no strap hardware of any sort to scratch your bass. They are 100% leather including the suede lining and they are the softest most pliable leather straps I've ever seen, especially considering the thickness.

In addition to the Crema with black lining strap I also have a black/black on a 51 reissue P-Bass and an acorn color with amber lining I use on several different basses. I only gig 2 at a time.

As long as I can get these I can't imagine using any store bought strap. They cost a lot and are worth every cent.
