It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of a Fender Forum Icon, 'brotherdave'.

Dave was a friend to many here at the Forum. His technical expertise and insight into bass guitar tech and maintenance was appreciated by many.

Dave lost a battle with cancer recently and he will be missed, not only by family, but by the membership here at the Forum.

Please keep Dave's family in your thoughts and prayers and the next time you pick up your Precision Bass or Jazz Bass, think of Dave... I know that he would appreciate the thought.

Rest in peace, 'brotherdave' - and if forum members wish to add to this thread with your own tributes to Dave, please do so...

Brother Dave was the go-to guy for all things Fender bass and his loss is a tragedy for one and all.

RIP, brotherdave

:(

Oh wow, that sucks! :( I was wondering what happened to him, since it was a while since he's posted on here. I never even knew he was ill. I was able to find out some information on a Precision Bass Lyte from him from his website, and talked to him quite a few times over the years around here. He certainly had a lot of Fender knowledge. RIP, Dave. My deepest condolences to his friends and family. :(

Thanks for posting this, PaducahLuke. Sad news, indeed, and my thoughts are with Dave's family. Such a great guy and (obviously) a fantastic contributor here as well - he'll be sorely missed around these parts. Appreciate your post, and I'll pass along the news to a few others here on the Fender side who I know are quite familiar with Dave and his contributions as well.

UPDATE : Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. I was in contact with one of Dave's closest relatives on Sunday, July 22, and provided the net link to this tribute thread, so the family could read the nice comments here as forum guests. The family appreciates what has been said here in this thread, so, again, thanks to everyone.

PaducahLuke, thanks for breaking the unfortunate news. Needless to say, BrotherDave WAS the forum to many of us. Arjay spoke well of how many of us feel. So long Dave, hope to see you again eventually. Until then, I’ll deficate a song performance to you and “hoist a pint” in your honor.
