Hello and greetings from Germany

First, sorry for the bad language. I have to use a translator. :?

I'm new here in the forum and have a question about my new Fender Precision Deluxe Bass
(Mexico). As an old passive jazz bass player, I still have problems understanding with the active Electronics.
The question: Do I always have to remove the cable after playing (so also with passive switching),
so that the batteries are not emptied? Or does that in passive mode not matter?
I'm used to keeping the cable on the bass, but I do not want to change the batteries all the time. :)

Unfortunately, not even the dealer can provide information here in Germany.
I would be happy about a clear answer.
Thanks in advance.

Rainer

Welcome to the Fender site.
From what I've always heard in the past, unplug the bass. It should cut off the power source.

Yes.
The battery is switched into the circuit through the ground connection on the output jack.
Active models use a stereo jack, the battery negative is connected to the "right" channel connection, which completes the circuit to the ground through the jack.

Hello Mr.Nylon & CB91710

Thank you for your quick, clear answers.
So I'm going to get used to always removing the cable after playing. :)

Thank you & have a nice weekend,
Rainer

The mode switch is particularly useful when you're out of batteries during a gig.
