Yeah, considering there are plenty of irons in the fire, as it were. It will get done, I'm sure, though.

It's just one of those things that the old priorities thing get's in the way. You have the extra needs for using the instruments for your work.

Right now, there's the actual music and shows to deal with, videos and all of that stuff. At least I do have functioning instruments to work with, but it would still be nice to have them all working again.

I know what you're saying about getting it ready for when you may care to use it.

Yeah, although I still do pick up the Squier Jazz when I go upstairs at the end of the day, or night, whatever schedule I'm on. Sometimes, I'm wondering if that is the one to be looked at. I don't want the strings changed on it, though. I have some light gauge flats on it that are nice and broken in, plus it has a Leo Quan bridge on it, which really contributes to it's tone and playability.

I don't see any reason to not play that Jazz as your first liner. You sound like you're pretty bonded with it. The bridge on it is a great design, and the strings treat you well also. My Fender GL bridge is a copy of the LQ BA.
If I were you, I would seriously consider the Squier Jazz as the TOP AXE!

Well, it's up there, even though I'm playing the short scales, these days. I think if I were to go to long scales full time, it would definitely be that, or something with a similar neck feel.

Since you're doing so well with the short scales, go for it. Funny how I stated out with the short scales, and was very comfortable playing them, and now the long scales are what I prefer to play.

Sometimes, tastes can change. I never thought I'd be playing on any short scales at all, until I got the violin bass and got used to playing that.

HaHa. Was going to say something about you and short scales to that affect. We do seem to have gone in different ways, for our bass scale preferences.

Well, another thing that's advantageous with using a short scale is that I'm often situated in a tiny office, and that means less of a risk of bumping the neck against the wall, or whatever. It's a strange room, that's hard to describe, but I've heard it was once an elevator shaft. I'd believe it, too. This house was built in 1882, and has been chopped up and put back together again for different reasons. It has a lot of strange quirks to it.

Wow! That's different. I remember seeing houses built from that time period, and older, when I was a kid living in Bergenfield, NJ. Rooms that were pie shaped, etc. Bergenfield was highly active in the American Revolutionary War.

Yeah, this place is pretty damned old. It was founded in 1639, and I've found graves around here (that I can still make out, since a lot of them are seriously eroded) from 1690, which I suspect could be some of the original settlers. The oldest house I've seen, so far, was from 1700, other than the White Horse Tavern, which was constructed before 1673.

I suspect a lot of original houses might have been torn down, and "newer" ones where constructed over that. It's kind of strange with that 1700 house, most of the ones around it are at least 40 years older, or usually going into the 1800's. Another example: There's a house on one street dated 1720, but the one next to it is 1773, and 1810 on the other side. That burying ground which I found the 1690 grave is right up the road from it, a couple houses over.

Yeah, that's an old area alright. It almost sounds like St. Augustine.
