I think Noel Redding, and Dickie Peterson were using regular Marshall 100 full stacks as well.

They probably might have been.

In a way I could see Noel Redding using an up graded Marshall for bass. Dickie Peterson, Maybe not.

I think Noel wound up using Sunn and maybe even Orange amps after originally Marshall, and Dickie used Ampegs, at least towards the end of his life, at least. I saw a concert video with him within the last few years and he was running an SVT stack, or two.

Ampeg SVT's are pretty reliable. Loud too.

That they are. I think they are also certainly more suited for bass tones than a Marshall guitar head, at least cleaner ones. More headroom, I suppose.

Or simply, just a bass head.

Yeah, it is designed specifically for that, at least, and not just a guitar head you plug a bass into, and hope for the best. :P

There still are some bass players who really don't think it matters whether it's guitar. or bass head.

Getting sort of back on the original topic (well, at least the Precision part,) after my last recording session, and recently watching "Echoes" by Pink Floyd, on "Live At Pompeii," (which always gives me P-Bass GAS,) I have to say I'm kind of regretting getting rid of my Squier Precision Bass, or I suppose missing a Precision in general.

I suppose I do have a couple of basses at my disposal that have the P and J pickups in them, so I suppose that's close enough. I'm thinking my next project to get in shape is going to be the Peavey. You know, make sure it's set up good, and the ground hum is fixed. I guess take it to the same place the Ibanez CT bass was fixed up at, and even if they put new rounds on it, which they probably will, since they did that for the Ibanez, I can eventually swap them out for some flats, which I planned to do so before.

The first Pink Floyd concert I went too, the second half of the show was the Meddle album in it's entirety. They opened with, what else but, "One Of These Days"! I think I payed $3.50, or $4.00 for a ticket. That was one of the earlier, if not the first Quad PA concerts. Echos sounded magnificent in Quad in a large arena hall.

Yes, it really was. I'm trying not to brag, or gloat, but I did see, or work some of the biggest shows off the later 60's to the early to mid 70's. It was just my time be there. And when I'm gone, they will be gone with me.
