I was lately considering getting a MIM Precision, but then I got to thinking, I already have the best of both worlds in one PJ Precision with a Jazz neck. This Sea Foam Pearl finish is so damn cool, and a Maple neck. I may just play this more than the GL Jazz. The trouble I have with having two basses I like. It's a tough life.

That's why I have one 12 gauge shotgun. There's no decision process going on there. The same thing going with one .45 ACP pistol. 9mm's, Are a different story. I do have two, but the all Stainless Steel one is the front line shooter for them. Bottom line though, the 12 Gauge Pump is the first to go into harms way, as they say. Image

If you wanted a third instrument, you could even go off another direction besides Precisions and Jazz basses, since you do have them both covered. You got basses with humbuckers, hollow and semi-hollow body, etc. There's even acoustic basses, which I have one, even though I've hardly played it. But, if I'm in a situation where I need one, I have it. I was suppose to do an acoustic gig with my girlfriend, but the guy flaked out, that's why I got it in the first place.

I filled the void of the third bass today, with an Olympic White Mustang PJ.

That's an interesting selection. You find a deal on one?

Not really a deal, since they have had a price roll back on them. The Pau Ferro board looked so good on this one, I snagged it. The grain in the board is just slightly unique on it. And it was another one of those just hung way up top on the wall just that morning. The sales rep showed me the computer scan on this one. It was just unboxed, and hung that morning.

I almost think Fender may have lowered the price to $549., since the Mustang PJ's are with Pau Ferro, and not Rosewood anymore. That was the entire reason for the $25.00 price increase in the first place.

Sounds good. 8) Yeah, I think I did notice that the price dropped on that one. I thought the one in orange would be cool to have, since that's a color that's kind of rare for a bass, especially Fender, but I think they stopped making those in that finish.

I think they did drop the Fiesta Orange, I think it was called. I liked that finish on it . The Fender site has the Mustang PJ priced at $549., street price. The Orange Mustang PJ is still shown when the Mustang PJ series is open, but then it's not listed as a current color for them.

Yeah, I remember it was jacked up to $579, or something like that, apparently because of the whole rosewood thing, which I thought might have been a little bogus, since that never affected the Squier models, but whatever. That's cool that they dropped the price down again, though. I remember when they used to have like summer deals where you could save $50, $100, etc. on Fender gear, depending on what you got. I think they haven't done that in a few years, though. I remember the Rumble 350 combo that I got was $100 cheaper during it, and the Standard basses, too.

I still would like to see a Maple fretboard on a Mustang PJ. The Special Edition Deluxe PJ, and the USA GL Jazz are cool with their Maple fretboards. Sea Foam Pearl goes pretty good with the Maple.

Maple board would be cool for the Mustang. You know, they used to have a Squier variant of the Mustang that had a maple board. I think it just came in a black finish, though.

I wonder why Fender never went in that direction with more Maples.

I've often wondered that, myself. They've certainly have had plenty to where the guitars are concerned, especially with Strats and Teles. In fact, it seems you're more likely to find a Tele with a maple board than a rosewood one, or whatever the alternative to rosewood would be these days. Do you think maple boards on a bass isn't a popular option, or was it just cheaper to use rosewood? I've always noticed most of your cheaper basses often had rosewood boards. Of course now, that's obviously something that's passed, or passing, because of those regulations with the wood. Maybe that's why that happened, because it was used so much?

Hendrix did well with maple on his Strats. He looked great playing the Olympic White Strat, with the Maple board, and a White PG.

That does look nice with the Olympic White finish.

When I saw his Strat for the first time, it really struck me as WOW!
