Yep! It's a real kicker playing through the setup I'm using now. Like I may have mentioned before, these pups on both of my basses sound great through the tube head!

You have to tweak the settings between the two much?

No, not really. I'm pretty simplistic with head settings. I tuned in the head for both, then its just tuning in the bass I'm playing at that time. And the two basses are very close with having the same Nylons onboard.

Is the volume of the pickups the same between the two? That's the issue I had with the Ibanez and the violin bass, but those are not made by the same companies at all.

The two are pretty close. if I remember correctly though, the USA GL has a bit higher volume. But not by that much.

It might have slightly hotter pickups in it.

The two pups are slightly different, in the windings, and I believe they are both 70's windings based. One thing I can say for sure, the Super Bassman doesn't hide any sounds. The HD115 is in there too.

You get pretty good clarity with that rig, then?

Oh by the way, getting to the original topic of this thread, Musician's Friend has your P Bass in Olympic White and Sunburst, besides the Sea Foam Pearl. I didn't even know they came in those finishes. I'm surprised that you didn't get it in the Olympic White finish, since I know that's one of your preferred finishes.

Yes, they have had the other two finishes all a long. There's just something I like about the Sea Foam Pearl, Maple board, and the Parchment PG. I'm very attached to this PJ.

I noticed the Olympic White model had a black pickguard instead of a white one, which gave it a contrast that matched up with the inlay blocks, I think. They gave the Sunburst model a white one, though. I would have preferred the Sunburst with either a black or tort pickguard. I suppose they make replacement pickguards for those, don't they? I've seen them for basses that have P and J pickups, so probably.

Fender should have the PG's for it by now.

The PJ playing through the Vintage Channel really kicked today. This bass is liking the SB / HD115. I'll have to play the GL tomorrow to compare closer between the two. But I have to tell you, the PJ just may be the top player. The Precision pup does seem to carry some weight. It never sounded as prominent through other amp setups I've had.
The tube head, and the 15 is cranking.

Wow, that would be something if the Jazz isn't the top dog, since I know how much you like those. I think there could be the recipe of Precision Bass pickups going through a 15" speaker that could be a factor, too.

I agree that the Precision pup blending with the Jazz pup is a prime factor going into the SB / HD115. That damn HyDrive 15 is a wonderful speaker. Eminence Neo 15's are super as well, but my old ears really like the HD115 cab. The design of the cab is a lot of it. It's the same dimensions as the HD410, where the Bassman 115 Neo is a few inches lower.

The size and design is another factor that can go with the sound of a cab, besides the speaker, I think.

I totally agree Paul. I'm very impressed with HyDrive ca designs. If I wanted to do two HD112 cabs, I'd set them up on two mobile tool boxes next to each other, and set the cabs side by side on them, with the SB straddling the two cabs. After hearing how the HD115 sounds with a 300 watt tube head though it, I'm in high praise of the 15. It's been a long time since I've said that.
