Hello dear Fender Community,

my Precision Bass has a problem. I think it has to do with the grounding.

When i plug into the amp and touch or turn the metal-knobs on the Bass there is a scratchyness to hear. But when i put my hands on the strings or the bridge or the tuning machines, there is no noise from turning or touching the controll knobs to hear.

When i touch the pole pieces of the split-coil pickup, there is a hum to hear that disappears, when i touch the strings, tuning machines or bridge. But only for the split-coil, not from the Noiseless Single-Coil.

When i kick in the 18V active switch i can hear the "click" from it amplified, but i think this is normal but maybe not?

The bass on it's own makes no noise, just the controll knobs.

I still have guaranty for the bass, but i don't want to exchange the complete Bass if it is an easy fix that preserved the original condition of the Bass.

What do you think is the problem here and maybe where?
Thank you for your help and apology for my bad english.

Greetings from Germany

Yes it is a ground problem.
Bass or amp ?

1-Is the amp is well grounded on you house wall outlet ? Sure ?
2- Can you try another bass or guitar on same amp with same wall outlet ? You will see if it is your bass or the amp or the wall outlet.
3- Il your bass's cable are good ?
4- Can you test bass in store where you buy it , return on warranty ?

Do these tests and report
