Hi, I want to replace the pick-ups on my Precision using genuine Fender but the wiring is different to the old ones, maybe because they are for a Squier bass, or maybe just an older style. The new ones have plates to which the pick-ups are earthed instead of to the pot bodies. Does this mean that there no longer needs to be an earth to the bridge? This is important because the new bass body does not have a tunnel between controls and bridge and it would be risky to try to drill a long tunnel at an awkward angle. If I don't need to earth the pick-ups to the bridge I wouldn't need the tunnel for the earth lead. Thanks.
