Just dusted off my old P case after 45 years. After I retired from playing in saloons and remarried, my bass rested under my mother's bed where I grew up for 20 years. When she passed, I brought it back to Arizona and it has been resting the past 20+ years under our bed.

I opened it and noticed termites have eaten the Orange Valure inside the case. Any suggestions where I could find that type of material?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I know this is going to sound nuts but the best thing to do is buy a new case and keep the original case as is regardless of condition. This will preserve the value of the case and your instrument BETTER than restoring it. The original case, regardless of condition, adds a lot of value to an instrument. This value is damaged by any restoration work on the case or the instrument. The case is made of wood under the Tolex exterior and velour interior. Likely the termites ate some of the wood also which could have weakened the structure of the case. A new case will protect your instrument and it's value better. It is a quite desirable instrument if still in good shape. Your instrument in excellent original condition with the original case in ANY condition is worth anywhere from 3,000 to 4,000 US Dollars retail here in North Carolina. Value there could be more or less.

You would have a great deal of difficulty getting the velour material. The OEM source for a 1972 Fender bass case would be G&G Quality Cases. They do NOT sell anything for cases except hardware like hinges. They might tell you their source for the fabric or they may not. You can message them and ask through the contact form on their site. They do not restore cases other than hardware replacement.

Trust me on this, you should NOT try to restore the original case. Just buy a new one to keep the instrument in. The G&G site with FAQ page and case hardware parts is at https://g-g-quality-case.myshopify.com/
