I recently switched to D'addarios after using the 9050's for about 2 decades.

I thought about trying out D'Addarios, as well. At least they are available where I like to buy my gear from. Although, their flats are more expensive for some reason, even though their rounds are usually cheaper than a lot of other brands.

A good 20+ months later. Same strings on same bass. Jammin' through a Fender Rumble Studio 40 on preset #62 = Vintage Studio. Lovin' It. Just Lovin' It.

Good, better, best

(in some people's opinions)

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I've never tried those, since they're usually more expensive than that. I know Carol Kaye uses that brand.

One More Time Again! Same Bass. Same Strings. Same Amp. Same Preset. Same beautiful results! Afternoon jam with keyboard player/friend. Man alive are these strings high tension. I have gotten used to the light touch and easy playability of GHS Balanced Nickels at about 41 pounds of tension per string. Made the Fender Flats seem even more like 'bridge cables', but they're not nearly as bad as Rotosound's 'Steve Harris' or LaBella's 'Jamerson Set'. Those two sets are the highest tension bass strings that I know of. Talk about 'bridge cabels', whew!

I know what you mean about the Rotosound flats. I've never tried the Steve Harris ones, but I've used the .105 to .45 gauge version, and wound up going down to a lighter gauge with those, since they were like that. I've never tried any LaBella strings, though.
